Sacramental Preparation
The same fundamental approach is taken for each of the sacraments and for adults and children alike, and developed for the particular sacrament. There is a dedicated leader team of parishioners who run preparation courses for each of the sacraments, Adult Baptism, Confirmation, First Communion and Infant Baptism.

Adults: Journey in Faith
Adults enquiring into membership of the Church are invited to join a group of parishioners on a ëJourney in Faithí leading them to baptism/reception into the Church at the Easter Vigil. The enquirers are supported by the parish through weekly catechesis and prayer. Meetings run year-round except for holiday breaks, and cover the major areas of Christian life. This is The Rite of Initiation for Adults (RCIA), and includes baptism and confirmation.

Infant Baptism
Parents who request Baptism for their child attend a four-week preparation course. While the focus of baptism is indeed the child and the ceremony, the preparation considers how the Catholic Faith will be handed on to the newly-baptised. The meetings are led by parents from the parish and a priest, and are held on average six times a year.

Marriage Preparation
Couples planning to marry are required by regulation to give six months' notice to allow time for the necessary formalities to be completed. They are expected to attend a course as part of their preparation that looks at the special Christian meaning of marriage reflecting upon the hopes, expectations and values which each person takes into the marriage. Although these sessions are not organised by the parish, details are available from the parish office.

Young People: First Holy Communion and Reconciliation
Preparation for First Communion and Reconciliation takes place in the parish for children aged 8 years or more and who attend Catholic or non-Catholic schools. Parents and children attend fortnightly meetings (Nov – May). The preparation starts with meetings for parents and aims to encourage parents to learn with, as well as guide, their children to a greater understanding of the Gospel message. People are invited to enrol in October.

Confirmation
Young people in year 9 or above are invited to enrol in the autumn term when approaching the time in their lives when they will be required to make more decisions for themselves. It is important for the preparation to reflect this and respect their growing independence. Parents are involved throughout.
